When Sip! Magazine recently profiled Wilridge founder Paul Beveridge, it wasn’t simply telling the story of a winery—it was exploring the philosophy that has guided Wilridge from the beginning. A willingness to ask “Why not?”, challenge convention, embrace innovation, and remain committed to Washington wine and sustainable agriculture has shaped Wilridge for nearly four decades.
Beginning in 1988, at a time when relatively few wineries were pursuing organic and Biodynamic farming, Paul recognized that exceptional wines begin with healthy vineyards and a deep respect for the land. That conviction remains at the heart of Wilridge today.
But Paul’s vision extends well beyond the vineyard. Throughout his career, he has worked to advance Washington’s wine industry by helping modernize the state’s winery and tasting room regulations, leading the effort to establish the Naches Heights American Viticultural Area (AVA), and demonstrating that Washington can successfully produce distinctive wines from varieties such as Nebbiolo and Touriga Nacional alongside more traditional grapes.
These accomplishments reflect a philosophy rooted in curiosity, stewardship, and a willingness to challenge conventional thinking. Rather than following established paths, Wilridge has continually explored new possibilities while remaining committed to producing wines that honestly express both their vineyard and vintage.
Nearly four decades later, that same philosophy continues to guide every aspect of Wilridge—from the vineyard and cellar to our tasting rooms and the experiences we create for our guests. The recent Sip! Magazine feature, together with the recognition earned by several Wilridge wines, serves as a meaningful reminder that lasting success is built not only on exceptional vintages, but on vision, perseverance, and a willingness to think differently.
We are honored that Sip! Magazine chose to tell Paul’s story and highlight the philosophy that continues to shape Wilridge today.
